CEA Leti
CEA LETI is one of the major European research centers for applied electronics. The main research themes at CEA Leti are: Micro- and Nanotechnologies, Microsystems and heterogeneous integration, ambient intelligence, imaging chain, and systems for biology and health. Its activities are usually situated at the cutting edge between academic research and industrial development. CEA Leti, which is actively engaged in research work extending from conceptual design of systems to pre-industrial prototypes, contributes to the transfer of technology and encourages innovation, particularly by assisting the emergence of new businesses and startups.
EPFL – ICLAB
EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) is Europe’s most cosmopolitan technical university. It receives students, professors and staff from over 120 nationalities. EPFL is placed in the overall top 20 universities and the top 10 in the field of Engineering and Technology according to several famous rankings. The Integrated Circuits Laboratory (ICLAB), operates as part of the Institute of Microengineering (IMT) in Microcity, the new EPFL site of Neuchatel. It is focused on the design of low-power and low-voltage analog/RF CMOS integrated circuits, on the modeling of advanced semiconductor devices and on the design of low-power error tolerant and approximate circuits and systems. The lab provides all the infrastructure for IC design including brand new measurement lab fully equipped up to 50 GHz.
INRIA – CAIRN Team
Established in 1967, INRIA is the only public research body fully dedicated to computational sciences. Combining computer sciences with mathematics, Inria’s 3,500 researchers strive to invent the digital technologies of the future. Educated at leading international universities, they creatively integrate basic research with applied research and dedicate themselves to solving real problems, collaborating with the main players in public and private research in France and abroad and transferring the fruits of their work to innovative companies.
The Cairn team (Energy-Efficient Computing Architectures), with more than 35 people from Inria, CNRS, UR1 and ENS Rennes, performs research for new architectures, algorithms and design methods for flexible domain-specific system-on-chip (SoC). Cairn will bring its recognized expertise in various fields including energy-efficient computing architectures as well as design tools and compilers for specialized and reconfigurable hardware accelerators. In ARTEFaCT the team will bring its strong background on analytical accuracy analysis of quantization errors, fixed-point word length optimisation and compiler optimizations
INSA – IETR Image Team
INSA Rennes is one of France’s top Graduate Schools of Engineering covering two areas of disciplines: Communication Systems & Technologies and Materials, Structures & Mechanical Engineering. INSA Rennes is represented in the project by members of the IETR laboratory (Institute for Electronics and Telecommunications of Rennes – UMR CNRS 6164). The IETR Image team acquired during the last decade a strong experience in the design of software/hardware systems. The team also has an expertise in image processing algorithms, specifically in image and video compression and computer vision. The team proposed several video applications on heterogeneous platforms and “System on Chip (SoC)”. These solutions are always the results of innovative methods and tools developed in the laboratory. Algorithm constraints, hardware constraints and their combination (execution time, memory, power consumption) are studied in the context of future telecommunication systems (mobility, multi‐standard) and video applications.
